About Rush University

The Rush Affiliated Network Orthopedic Residency Program in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center is one of the premier orthopedic training programs in the country (Source: U.S.News and World Report). It is an exceptional program that exposes residents to the entire spectrum of orthopedics; inclusive of all sub-specialty areas. The program emphasizes the importance of developing competent clinical and surgical skills and acknowledges the vital role that clinical and basic research play in the management of patients. Residents gain extensive experience in the diagnosis, management and treatment of the broad continuum of orthopedic problems. They are well prepared to enter into private practice, academics, or a sub-specialty fellowship. While the program is demanding and stimulating, it fosters and encourages camaraderie between the residents and attending staff.

The Department of Orthopedics at Rush is home to orthopedic surgeons that have been continually ranked among America's best by Castle Connolly Ltd. It is also one of the nation's leaders in private and NIH research funding with well-established research programs in bone biology, biomechanics, biomaterials and biochemistry. These resources and opportunities allow Rush surgeons to impact and influence their respective specialties by remaining on the leading edge of contemporary orthopedics. Rush orthopedic surgeons have been instrumental in the development of minimally invasive hip and knee arthroplasty, treatment of cartilage defects in young patients, prosthetic management of childhood cancers, minimally invasive spine surgery, as well as many more significant advances in orthopedic medicine.
