Welcome to the Rush University Department of Occupational Therapy. We offer an exceptional, well-respected entry-level master’s program for individuals interested in a career in occupational therapy. Our program is located in one of the top academic medical centers in the country — Rush University Medical Center. Within the medical center, our highly experienced practitioners provide services in the areas of acute care medicine, outpatient, pediatrics, psychiatry and rehabilitation. Both faculty and clinicians are committed to the education and development of future occupational therapists through the implementation of the practitioner-teacher-investigator model. Through the use of this model, our students receive education from faculty who are active in clinical practice and practitioners who are an integral component of our academic program.
One of the hallmarks of our program is the clinical focus and experiences afforded our students. Beginning in the first quarter of study, students have the opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom to the clinic setting when they work side-by-side with one of the more than 30 practitioners providing services in the medical center during their clinical practicum experience. Students consistently comment that this is a vital aspect of their education and prepares them well for their fieldwork experience and practice after graduation.
Whether you are interested in our academic program or working at Rush we invite you to check us out. We are all proud of both our academic and clinical programs and hope you consider becoming part of the Rush family.
