Dear Class of 2013 Degree Candidates,
It is with great pride that I congratulate you on the completion of your degree at Rush University. I applaud your academic achievement and know that your family and friends do, as well. I look forward to seeing you at commencement and please know that you can invite as many guests as you would like to share in this joyous event with you. We want those who have supported your educational endeavors to be a part of celebrating your success.
While you were completing your degree at Rush, you were a part of a world-class health care community comprised of students, faculty and staff representing medicine, nursing, allied health, biomedical science and health care administration. Whether your classes, clinical or practical experiences were primarily on- or off-campus, you knew that as a Rush student, your role was to provide the highest quality health care and to become a health care leader who collaboratively translates knowledge gained through your Rush experience into outstanding health care outcomes.
You have been trained in ways and learned things that the founding members of this University in 1837 could have hardly dreamed of. You know more than the most learned of them and you will do more than the most accomplished of them.
We have tried to teach you how the human body works and how you can use the latest in research, technology, and health systems to affect beneficial change. The very best healthcare begins with the personal and very human characteristics of a practitioner who can recognize the same qualities in every individual seeking care. You are well prepared to make sure that tomorrow's advances in health care are matched by a greater sensitivity to all of the needs of the many people you now serve.
On behalf of the Rush University Board of Overseers and the Rush community, I wish you continued success throughout your career and invite you to call on us in the future if we can help you in any way. We are invested in your success and you are now, and for all the years to come, one of ours – a Rush University graduate.
