About Rush University
Residency education in all specialties requires the development and integration of clinical academic learning in a context of increasing responsibility and demanding daily work. While rewarding, this process may become consuming and stressful at times. Residents may experience difficulties in job performance, personal relationships and self esteem while completing their training.

The Residency Counseling Program is available to all house officers at Rush University Medical Center. It was developed as a resource for residents, and provides expert psychological and psychiatric services free of charge. The program is committed to assisting residents in maximizing their educational experience and their professional and personal lives through effective short-term treatment of stress and anxiety disorders. Confidential treatment is also provided for marital and relationship problems, chemical dependency and depression. Emergency psychiatric services and pharmacologic treatment are also offered when appropriate.

Residents may self-refer to the Counseling Center and records, treatment and referral are maintained in strict confidence. Appointments may be arranged by contacting the staff through the numbers listed on the previous page.

Our hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Counseling Center is located in Kidston, Suite 701. For a campus map indicating the location of Kidston, see the document called "Campus Map with Kidston Circled" linked on the previous page.
