About Rush University

The IBC Original Application Form is due two weeks prior to the standing meeting date of the IBC, i.e., by close of business on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Applications should correspond in title and all other respects to externally funded projects and projects for which Federal funding is sought, as the post approval award will require explicit IBC approval. You are invited to discuss the application scope with the Biological Safety Officer (BSO).

The BSO reviews the application and recommends changes before it is distributed to other committee members. At least two IBC members present detailed reviews of the application to the rest of the committee. Possible IBC actions are final approval, provisional approval requiring revisions approved by the committee chair and BSO, or tabling that requires revision and reconsideration at another convened meeting. The BSO issues the committee determination in a signed letter to the PI and study coordinators, if applicable.
