Resources for Rush alumni

Alumni of Rush Medical College, College of Nursing, College of Health Sciences and the Graduate College are invited to use Rush’s library services and facility.

Graduates of Rush University have limited library privileges. Alumni may borrow books from Rush’s collection and consult with reference librarians. Contact the Library Services Desk at (312) 942-5950 or library@rush.edu for more information. Standard local borrowing policies and fines apply to our alumni users.

Access to the library’s physical space and in-person services are by appointment only. If possible, we recommend scheduling your appointment at least 3 business days in advance of your visit to ensure the library will be open and any requested materials will be ready for pickup or use. Email library@rush.edu to request an appointment.

Unfortunately, only current Rush University facutly, staff and students may access Library’s electronic collections from off campus.

For more information, please visit the Rush University library website.

Admissions and legacies

Rush University alumni with family members interested in a career in the health sciences can learn more about Rush University admissions.

If you are a Rush University alumnus, and your family member is specifically interested in Rush Medical College and has not yet submitted their AMCAS application, they are invited to attend an upcoming Legacy Day to learn more about medical school admissions and hear from current medical students about the application process.

If you are a Rush University alumnus, and your family member (child, grandchild, sibling or spouse/partner) is graduating from Rush University, you and your family may enjoy special designation at the Commencement ceremony. Students will indicate their legacy status on the Intent to Graduate Form in advance of the Commencement ceremony, and further information will be made available at that time.

If you have additional questions, please contact Anna Gettings in the Office of Alumni Relations at anna_gettings@rush.edu or (312) 942-7199.

A parent, sister/brother or spouse/same-sex domestic partner of a student who holds the rank of instructor or above on the Rush University faculty or is a current member of the Board of Trustees or Board of Governors may be eligible to present the graduate’s diploma. For information about diploma presentation, please contact the Rush University Registrar at registrars_office@rush.edu.

Rush Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation

Alumni are welcome to use the innovative Rush Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation. In an expanded, high-tech center that opened in 2014, Rush's simulation labs are specialized training facilities equipped with life-sized, computer-controlled patient simulators. There, all levels of health care providers learn medical procedures in a highly realistic environment. Our onsite classrooms, labs and equipment help create an immersive, high-value learning experience that incorporates the best practices of simulation education.

Special rates can be arranged for clinical refreshers in all primary and acute care specialties. Come alone or bring your team.
