Community Programs

Faculty within the Department of Preventive Medicine work actively in the community to promote better health. Some of their current activities include:

•The Humboldt Park Diabetes Project

Improving Hispanic Elders Health, City of Chicago, Department on Aging

Centro San Bonifacio Multipliers Program

•Greater Humboldt Park Community of Wellness Asthma Task Force

In addition some of the faculty works in advisory positions holding board positions on six different community activities.

Steven K. Rothschild, MD, is currently on the boards of Health and Medicine Policy Research Group, Illinois’ Older Adult Services Advisory Committee, Pilsen Homeless Services, as well as being a volunteer physician at the Franciscan House of Mary and Joseph.

Molly Martin, MD, is currently on the boards of Amigos de Centro San Bonifacio and the Chicago Asthma Consortium.

Cheryl Rucker-Whitaker, MD, MPH, is currently active in the Chicago Department of Public Health -Chronic Disease Initiative, the City of Chicago Healthiest City Initiative, and the Sinai Community Institute.
