Scholarship Awards

 

The College of Nursing has scholarships available from both a general pool of funds and individual, criteria-based awards. In order to be considered for most nursing scholarship awards, students must complete the FAFSA and Institutional Aid forms available in the office of Student Financial Aid. The following scholarships highlight some of the awards available to qualified applicants at the various degree levels.

UNDERGRADUATE - PRELICENSURE

RUSH UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER NURSING SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP: Several full tuition scholarships awarded. Based on academic merit (cumulative and science GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) Nursing Service Scholarship (NSS) application and an interview. If awarded and accepted, a service commitment is required upon graduation: 24 months for students in the Accelerated BSN program and 36 months for students in the 2 year BSN program. Eligible applicants accepted into the BSN program will receive a NSS application with their acceptance letter. Applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE based on financial need through the Office of Financial Aid. Students must be accepted to either the 2 year or Accelerated BSN program and must have a completed financial aid application on file with the office of Student Financial Aid.

Tuition Repayment Program for New Nursing Graduates offered by Human Resources Qualified registered nurses work full-time (80 hours per pay period) for 24 months on designated units and receive up to $15,000 for tuition for the last year of education in an entry level program.

GRADUATE

ELI AND GERTUDE SCHNITZ SCHOLARSHIP: Based on financial need and merit (3.0 GPA). Applicant must be enrolled in the acute care nurse practitioner program. Awardee will receive the scholarship yearly through graduation.

HOMER M. THOMAS SCHOLARSHIP: Based on financial need and merit (3.0 GPA). Awarded annually to 2 to 4 unmarried female students residing in the Chicago metropolitan area who are enrolled in the Master's program.

ELLIS-JONES SCHOLARSHIP: Awarded to an underrepresented minority PhD student enrolled full time.

DEAN'S SCHOLARSHIP FOR Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) STUDY: Any applicant admitted to the PhD program will be considered for a Dean's Scholarship for PhD Study (up to 50% or more of full program tuition). Admitted students will be considered for awards based on a merit review of their application materials and available scholarship resources. Scholarships will be awarded for tuition and/or living expenses.  

KELLOGG SCHOLARSHIP FOR Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) STUDY: Merit scholarships awarded to continuing PhD students who have completed 24 credit hours of study.

GOLDEN LAMP SOCIETY AWARDS: Merit scholarships awarded to PhD students who are at the dissertation stage of their studies.

ANY LEVEL

CONVOCATION AWARDS: Several different awards are given at Convocation each year based on merit, the student's application and faculty recommendations.
