| ADN – MSN Program The Program The ADN - MSN program offers qualified, experienced Associate Degree (AD) prepared nurses the opportunity to enter graduate study without completing a bachelor's degree. As a prerequisite, students complete 18 credit hours of upper division coursework at any accredited four-year college or university. Upon matriculation at Rush, students complete a bridge course and then continue with the graduate coursework in their chosen area of study. Advanced generalist practice, advanced specialty practice and teaching career options await the experienced (AD) nurse who wishes to pursue a Master’s degree. The program is appropriate for high achieving, experienced ADN nurses. Applicants should currently be practicing professional nursing at a level consistent with baccalaureate preparation so as to provide a foundation for success in graduate school. Students do not attain a baccalaureate degree in the course of their ADN-MSN studies. Graduates earn an MSN in the graduate area of study they pursue. A minimum of 2 years RN experience • Eighteen semester or 27 quarter hours of upper division college coursework at any accredited four-year college or university are required. Courses may be taken in any of the following areas: Anthropology, Communication, Cultural Studies, English/World Literature, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology Detailed CV with current job description Application essay Recommendation forms Interview (based upon anticipated MSN area of study). Supporting documentation to reflect achievement of these core values will be provided by way of the following mechanisms: The following table provides a guideline as to how these core values may be reflected in your materials.
*Can include additional supporting documentation as appropriate. Not all criteria need to be met in each category, however, there should be some evidence demonstrating each core value. The Program of Study Once admitted, students take a 6 quarter hour bridge course of selected nursing content and the graduate program of study reflective of their area of interest, i.e., advanced generalist or specialty Masters.The bridge course is offered online. Many graduate courses are also offered online as well as some entire MSN programs of study. The ADN – MSN option is only for ADN prepared nurses who do not have a bachelor's degree in another area.
