THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF NURSING
If you answered yes to the questions above, read on about the wonderful opportunities that await you as a nursing student at RUSH UNIVERSITY! If you are in high school now: The best start for a successful career in the nursing profession begins with a solid background in college preparatory courses. This will help you when you reach the college/university level of study. Courses like biology, chemistry, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus are good courses to establish a strong math and science background. English, literature, speech and communication, history, philosophy and a foreign language are also excellent courses for a well-rounded college preparation. If you are a high school graduate: The next vital step towards achieving your goal of becoming a Rush nurse is choosing a college or university where you can obtain a solid liberal arts and science education and graduate with your bachelor's degree. It is important to take the right prerequisites during this time so that you are prepared to move directly into the Generalist Entry Masters (GEM) progam at Rush. A list of the prerequisite courses can be found at: http://www.rushu.rush.edu/nursing/pos/GEM_pos.html. Talk with your college advisor to map out the best plan for taking these courses. Rush also has affiliations with prominent local and regional colleges whereby qualified students can apply for guaranteed admission into the GEM program.
