Admission Requirements
The program is designed for students interested in teaching and
interdisciplinary research careers in the neurosciences. Students
with an undergraduate degree or medical and other professional
students who wish to pursue graduate study may apply. The Division
of Neuroscience deadline for the receipt of applications is
February 15th. Students are admitted to the program to start
during the fall quarter of a given academic year. Applicants for
dmission are evaluated by an admissions committee chaired by the
Director of the division. Candidates are required to provide three
letters of recommendation written by individuals who know them
academically. Consideration for admission includes the applicant's
overall academic record, the quality of the recommendations, his/her
motivation and ability to pursue independent studies and the
description of the applicant's scientific research interests.
Minimal admission criteria to the program are consistent with
the general requirements of The Graduate College and include a
score of at least 1,500 on the Graduate Record Examination and
a grade point average of at least 3.0.
