Nursing Scholarship

Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps - Nursing Scholarships

This scholarship offers various two, three and four year scholarships for nursing majors pursuing a BSN degree as full-time students. Upon graduation, recipients are commissioned as a second lieutenant with an active duty service requirement of at least four years. Allied Health Student Scholarship

Students in an allied health or nursing program are eligible to apply for the following scholarship. Applicants are invited to discuss your first-hand observations about the nursing profession and recommendations for resolving the nursing shortage. By sharing your experiences and insights, you could win cash towards your college education. Any student who has taken anatomy & physiology or microbiology in the last two years, or is currently enrolled, is eligible to apply for a scholarship. American Academy of Nursing Scholarship Program

This scholarship provides pre-doctoral and post-doctoral scholarships in gerontological nursing. National Health Services Corps

The National Health Service Corps is the part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that recruits health professionals for communities that lack adequate access to primary care services. The scholarship pays for tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment for up to four years of education, in addition to a monthly living stipend. For each year of support, a student must serve one year in a health professional shortage area upon completion of training. Minimum service obligation is two years. National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

Students must be doing well scholastically. Students must have a financial need. Student must be American Citizens. Award amounts vary with each scholarship. All applicants must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local DAR chapter. Your state scholarship chairman will assist in locating the chapter nearest you. For Information send a stamped self-addressed business size envelope to obtain the name and address of your state scholarship chairman and an application for any of the Society's Scholarships. National Student Nurses Association (NSNA Foundation Scholarship)

Students currently enrolled in state-approved schools of nursing or pre-nursing in associate degree, baccalaureate, diploma, generic doctorate, and generic master's programs. Funds are not available for graduate study-unless it is for a first degree in nursing. The scholarships are based on academic achievement, financial need, and involvement in nursing student organizations and community activities related to health care. US Army Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) for Nurse Anesthetist

HPSP offers qualified students full tuition for school, a monthly stipend, and reimbursement for books and various equipment and fees. In return, students serve as Active Duty Officers for a minimum of two years. Scholarship recipients also attend a 45-day Active Duty Training (ADT) tour for every year of scholarship awarded. US Navy - Nurses Candidate Program

The Nurse Candidate Program (NCP) provides a stipend for full-time students in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Students can enroll after their sophomore year and receive $5,000 in two installments, plus $500 monthly for up to 24 months. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen 20 to 34 years of age, must pass the Navy's physical standards and must complete certain minimum levels of training and education. Service obligation will be at least three years of active duty depending on the program under which you receive your commission. US Navy - Reserves Officer Training Corps

The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTS) provides up to four years tuition while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, plus books and a $150 monthly stipend while a student. Graduates are then commissioned as an officer in the Navy Nurse Corps.

US Public Health - Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP)

The goals of the NELRP are to assist in the recruitment and retention of professional nurses dedicated to providing health care to under-served populations and to provide an opportunity for nurses to consider a career in America 's nursing under-served areas. The program offers registered nurses substantial economic assistance to repay their educational loans in exchange for service to the under-served in eligible facilities. All NELRP participants must enter into a contract agreeing to provide full-time employment in an approved eligible health facility (EHF) for 2 or 3 years. In return, the NELRP will pay 60 percent of the participant's total qualifying loan balance for 2 years or 85 percent of the participant's total qualifying loan balance for 3 years. State Residing Scholarships

Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program

In an effort to address the shortage of nurses and nursing instructors in the State, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is offering the Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program. The Program is meant to incentivize nurse educators to continue instruction in the State of IL. Annual awards may be up to $5000 (based upon the borrower's remaining amount due on educational loans), and the benefit may be received for up to four years.

Applicant must:

  • Be US citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • Be an IL resident
  • Have an outstanding balance due on an eligible educational loan
  • Be a nurse educator who meets the licensing requirements of the IL Dept of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Have worked as a nurse educator instructing practical or professional nurses at an approved IL institution (Rush is an approved institution, as are a number of other institutions in the State) for at least the past 12 consecutive months prior to the date of application for this program
  • Not be in default on any federal educational loan and must not owe a refund of any scholarship or grant administered by ISAC

Illinois Department of Public Health - Nursing Education Scholarship Program

This program makes awards up to $2000 per academic year to a limited number of eligible undergraduate nursing students. Applicants must be a permanent, legal resident of Illinois for one-year prior to application, enrolled in or accepted for admission to a nursing program in Illinois , demonstrate financial need as indicated on the latest Student Aid Report (SAR). Illinois Farm Bureau Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program

This scholarship is for $2000 for Illinois residents enrolled or accepted in a Nurse Practitioner Program. Applicants must be Illinois residents, be a registered nurse, and must agree to practice as a nurse practitioner in an approved rural community (county with a population less than 60,000) in Illinois for two years. Indian Health Service - Health Professions Scholarship Program
