Full- and part-time students may apply for assistance. The types and amounts will vary among programs. To be considered for most Rush aid you must meet the following eligibility criteria.

  • Be accepted as a degree- or certificate-seeking student and register for at least half-time status.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined in the Rush University Catalog.
  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for determination of financial need.
  • Submit the Institutional Aid Application.
  • Include parent data if applying for institutional aid - see individual college programs for further information.
  • Be a United States citizen or hold a valid alien registration card.
  • Meet all eligibility criteria for federal aid (i.e., not in default on a federal loan, registered for the Selective Service - if required, and not owing a refund for federal assistance).
  • Exhibit financial need for federal, state, or institutional financial assistance.
  • Maintain a good credit record to obtain credit-based loans, if needed.

International students are not eligible for federal aid and Rush University aid (except for students in The Graduate College who are offered a tuition scholarship and/or stipend). However, loans for graduate study may be possible by contacting International Student Loan Program, 424 Adams Street, Milton MA 02186 USA. The phone number is (617) 696-7840, and the email address is: iefc.com

In addition to the above International Student Loan Program, you may also be able to borrow from other national lenders. Note that you will need to have a U.S. co-signer to obtain this type of loan.
