  • Students with a prior Bachelor's degree are ineligible for the federal Pell Grant, federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, and the state of Illinois Monetary Award Program. These programs are specifically for students working toward their first Bachelor's degree.
  • Undergraduate may find it necessary to have a credit-based loan as a part of their award package for the year. If this is the case, then you must be credit worthy and/or require a co-signer to receive the loan. Please review the section on Maintaining good credit.
  • Books and equipment purchases from Rush's Bookstore must be made with either cash, check or credit card. "Vouchers" are not utilized by the University.

Graduate Programs

Clinical Nutrition

  • Stipend checks are issued from the department on a monthly basis. This income is considered taxable income, and taxes are withheld.
  • Income from the stipend is included in the award letter, since it is a form of aid. This stipend may be changed to Federal College Work Study program, but it will have no impact on the amount of stipend you receive for the year.

Communication Disorders and Sciences

  • Students may be awarded "employment" as a part of the award letter, but there is no requirement that one obtain a job. It is possible to replace employment, if you are unable to work, with a loan (most likely a credit-based loan) if needed. Carefully review your budget and resources to determine if the additional funding is needed before replacing the employment with loans.

Health Systems Management

  • It is assumed that students are employed at least part-time during this program. Therefore, the aid package will most likely include an "employment" component.
  • This may be changed to Federal College Work Study program, but it will have no impact on the amount of earnings for the year.

Occupational Therapy

  • Students are considered full-time (except those in a part-time curriculum) throughout their program, including that time spent in fieldwork and during thesis preparation.
