Paula Jo Belice, PhD, OTR/L, is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Sciences. She has been an occupational therapist for over 35 years. After completing her master’s degree at Rush University in 1989, she worked as the manager of rehabilitation services at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. In 1999, she returned to Rush as an assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Her doctoral work took her to Belize, where she examined the impact of safe, secure housing on life participation for the poorest of the poor. Following her PhD, she completed a three-year health disparities fellowship through the Building Healthy Urban Communities grant at Rush. Her research focus was on asthma education and health literacy with underserved adolescents with asthma and their caregivers. Belice joined the PhD in Health Science faculty in 2016. Her teaching responsibilities include the education core coursework, issues and trends in health care and professional writing. Her pedagogical interests include optimizing online instructional practices.
